Scripture
The grace of the Lord
Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with all
of you. (2
Corinthians 13:13)
Reflection
This greeting is familiar to us as we often hear it at the
beginning of worship. The Apostle Paul concludes his Second Letter to the Corinthians
with these words.
As we anticipate our observance of Holy Trinity Sunday (June
15), we are reminded that our Triune God is not static, but rather active.
The three words Paul uses as descriptors of God (out of the thousands he might
have chosen!)—grace, love, and communion—really only work when the nouns
become verbs. Imagine beginning and
ending each day with Paul’s blessing, living and acting grace, love, and
communion, with God and with one another!
Prayer
Triune God, Bless us with your grace, your love, and your
communion, with You and with one another. In your Triune name. Amen.
